ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Hedy Epstein, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor, was reportedly arrested on Monday during unrest over the death of Michael Brown.
Steven Hsieh, a writer for The Nation, tweeted a photo of Epstein being arrested outside Gov. Nixon’s office building in downtown St. Louis, where a group marched to protest Nixon’s deployment of the National Guard to Ferguson.
Eight demonstrators linked arms in front of security guards at the building’s entrance, and were told that they faced arrest for blocking the doorway, The Nation reports.
“I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. I didn’t think I would have to do it when I was ninety,” Epstein told The Nation during her arrest. “We need to stand up today so that people won’t have to do this when they’re 90.”
